Regional Anaesthesia Ultrasound trainer made by Pharmabotics in collaboration with Dr Nigel Bedforth, Consultant Anaesthetist, Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospital, U.K.
This NEW trainer has been made in response to the identified need to make a simulator to assist Trainee Anaesthetists in developing the necessary skills to become proficient in using Ultrasound for use in Regional Anaesthesia and Nerve Blocks.
The use of Ultrasound guidance for placement of needles in Nerve Blocks has been increasing and an abstract on this topic was presented at The European Society for Regional Anaesthesia 2006.
Key Skills
Insertion of needles with Ultrasound
Allows trainees to relate Physio spacial orientation in relation to unidimensional human anatomy and structures
Practice of target nerve recognition with Ultra- sound probe and how it relates to surrounding structures
Improves hand-eye coordination with Ultrasound probe and needle positioning and visualisation
Visualisation of vessels and nerves
Appreciation of risks of overshoot in needle positioning
Practice finding needle with the probe
